Descendants of Edward Jowett

In the summer of 1638 a small group of Puritan families led by the Rev. Ezekiel Rogers, sailed from Hull England on the ship “John of London".  Among the passengers were two brothers, Joseph and Maximilian Jewett and their wives. Upon arrival they wintered in the Dorchester, Massachusetts area and in the spring they helped settle the small plantation between Newbury and Ipswich, Massachusetts and it was named Rowley after the parish where Ezekiel Rogers had been the previous pastor.
Also arriving on the same ship was Samuel Day who brought the first printing press to America which was called the “Day Press”.
At some point the two surviving son’s of William Jewett, who had died in England, joined their Uncles.  They were John and Abraham Jewett who first appear in the records of Ipswich when they married on the same day.
From these four men sprung the majority of “Jewett’s” in America and is the main focus of content being offered on this Website. The content is a product of over thirty five years of genealogy research.
